Combo Cut in MT
Still after another but sneak peak of the aftermath of the combo cut and Isaac's aim at 25 yards.
He's a chunk head.-

Re: Combo Cut in MT
Started the morning slow and disappointing. We finally heard a bird gobble then after getting near the area , someone shot then 30 seconds later, a second shot. We decided to get away from that unexpected commotion and found another bird around 8 AM.
We could see the bird at around 100 yards or so straight below us at the bottom of a very steep face. Once set down, we could only hear him. It took him 30 minutes to break and come in. He'd not gobbled in a couple minutes and we started hearing drumming. A few soft yelps and he gobbled at 35 or 40 yards but out of site. More drumming followed and one more gobble before we saw creamy fan tips then a white capped gobbler's head. He paused one or two seconds, strutted, took 3 or 4 steps higher, strutted, then stretched his head for his last look at the mountainside.
Isaac killed him cleanly with the 870 20 ga and TSS 9s. It turned out that he had two hens with him, but I think the second bird that started gobbling at me a couple hundred yards away convinced him that he better not wait around. The second bird disappeared afterwards. I really thought we could get him going but no dice. Eating a late breakfast now and looking for my own afterwards.

What dandies. I love the color profile on the tail of a Merriam's.

Good luck. If you decide to make and sell some of the ghost cut. I'd likely take a handful of them.Samm4770 wrote: ↑April 23rd, 2023, 3:02 pmGlad you’re getting good use of them!
