Blackhorn 209
Well, a buddy of mine saw on Facebook that a local gun shop got a shipment of Blackhorn 209 powder in. They advertised in at $80/can. They said, call in your order and pay and we will hold it for you, no limit on cans.
Well, I stopped by there today (on my lunch break) to look for some 7mm-08 ammo for a buddy and this is what I saw...............guess people aren't that hard up for it after all.

I think that Biden needs to step in to prevent "price gouging" on an essential component for a lot of Americans!

Here today gone tomorrow
They have started putting less powder in them to make it easier for customers everywhere to get some at least

That was noticed by RaspyD. I had a "hook up" at the gun shop and was able to get him a can for $40! I was only allowed to get one at that price. Luckily I have a 1½ cans, so I'm good for a while. Just goes to show the markup on things.

That price seems a little high
Re: Blackhorn 209
I just paid 64.00 for a 10 OZ Can
Re: Blackhorn 209
I shoot a saboted 300 gr. XTP bullet in my TC Omega. Several years ago, I found that reducing my Blackhorn 209 powder charge from 100 gr. to 90 gr produced better accuracy/groups w/ a 125 yard zero and a few additional loads per can of powder. I was recently cleaning out old powders and fertilizing flowers w/ them and found a sealed 1 pound can of Goex black powder w/ a price sticker of $6.99. How old is that powder?

Re: Blackhorn 209
What was the price a few years ago? Just wondering since I see on a couple sites that $80 for half a pound seems to be the norm. Powder valley has it listed for $479 for five pounds plus hazmat and shipping. That seems like a bit high considering you can get triple seven for $30 a pound plus the extras. That is less than a third of the cost of blackhorn.
I am thinking about getting the cva paramount htr. With the cost of blackhorn and the tips each shot will cost about $3.50. Kinda rough, but if I can shoot a few hundred yards and be accurate... I just might got for it, if the powder ever becomes available.

Re: Blackhorn 209
I paid $36 for a 10 oz container a few years ago. The only black powder substitute which pre-dated Blackhorn 209 and performed as well was the discontinued Black Mag. Triple Seven, Pyrodex, Black Canyon and all of the other black powder substitutes don't compare to the repeatable performance of Blackhorn 209 and all have problems which make the Blackhorn a deal at over 2 or 3 times the cost. None of the pellets or other powders produce the accuracy and ease of clean-up that Blackhorn 209 does, and if anyone knows a better black powder substitute, I would like to know about it.
