Stevens 555
I am wanting to get a stevens 555 o/u and wanting to turkey hunt with it but have a question. If you put a turkey choke like indian creek in the top barrell and like a full in the bottom would that work without hitting one of the chokes when you fire the gun?

Re: Stevens 555
You won’t hit a 4” choke if you had one sticking out
No worries on that

Hoobilly is correct. I have a 20 gauge and have been experimenting with a few choke brands and have had no issues...

I'm running Trulock .565 and .585 extended non-ported in my stevens 555. I've been really pleased with both of them. Shooting Apex 9s.

Did you have to put a red dot on it?

Re: Stevens 555
I didn't need to. Hunted last year without one. I got great POI/POA. I have added a FF3 this year but not because the gun didn't shoot well. Just because why not have a red dot.
I'm using the meadow creek O/U mount.

On the Trulock website click on Beretta Benelli/Mobile chokes, click on the 20 gauge tab, available chokes thread appears, there are flush chokes, extended, and tss turkey chokes... also, it's been "advised" on this forum and others using an O/U that your long-range choke goes in your bottom barrel and short-range goes into your top barrel. PM me if you have issues. Their website is hard to navigate and you can also call them, they have a good customer base...you can exchange chokes with them until you find the right one for your load...

Primos titewad shoots great in these 20ga models.
Get there early, stay late, sit still and don't use weather as an excuse to stay home.
Re: Stevens 555
I’m getting 254 in the ten and 432 in total in the twenty at 40 with a Carlson.565 and 384 in ten and 457 total in the twenty at 20 with a Carlson.590 and Federal #9s. Both chokes are nonported, I went to a .600 for my short choke this year as I almost missed a bird last year. I did not count holes but still has plenty that if I did miss judge long to have a killing pattern at 40. But the chokes were cheap and performed as good as you could ask for.
Re: Stevens 555
I recently purchased the Stevens 555 in 20 gauge for turkey hunting. I ordered an IC .555 choke tube for the upper. The O.D. of the choke is approximately .817" It takes up more than half the space. What can I fit into the lower barrel? Does anyone run an IC (not improved cylinder either) choke? What did you do for the other barrel?
Or what is the best combination of choke tubes that fit in this gun?

Re: Stevens 555
As I posted this answer to your question in another thread, I just shoot a flush mod in the other barrel (assuming you are shooting TSS), so you will have a more open option to what will likely be a very tight patterning IC .555. Or a flush full if you want more reach from that barrel.Chuppy wrote: ↑March 30th, 2022, 5:33 pm I recently purchased the Stevens 555 in 20 gauge for turkey hunting. Re: Stevens 555
I probably will be shooting tss out of one barrel and lead out of the other barrel . I understand that you run a flush modified choke and uneven length barrels. That was not the intention of my question. I'm trying to find another extended and ported choke that will fit in the lower barrel when the Indian creek is in the other barrel. I'm sure that we are not the first people to encounter this problem. The jebs chokes "look" pretty small. I'm waiting for a call from their company to get the dimensions of their chokes. It seems that none of the choke manufacturers put their choke specs on their websites, that's pretty frustrating.
Personally I don't feel comfortable with shooting uneven length barrels for safety reasons, but thanks for the input.

Indian creek is making tubes for the 555 Stevens now
Re: Stevens 555
I don't see those choke tubes on their website. Do you know the model numbers of those tubes, so I can look them up?

In my Stevens 555 20ga I shoot a Indian Creek .555 in the top barrel, and the factory full in the bottom barrel. With my TSS 9 hand-loads in the top barrel, and the old Remington Hevi-Shot factory 3” 1 1/8 oz 7 1/2’s field load in bottom barrel. POA/POI is on the money with both barrels. The bottom barrel is good to 35 yards with the factory full choke.
