Coyote Fever patterns

Post by Hoobilly »

Shot the Coyote Fever 12ga 3” loads Friday

1.5oz at 1400+ fps with #3 tss shot

50 yards then 90 yards

Gun used is a Remington Versamax with a Indiancreek.710 choke

My buddy Neal’s gun and he did the shooting. When we shot the 90 yard pattern I held the 50 next to it. Asked him if a coyote would escape either. He was shocked and said that’s a crazy 90 yard pattern and would flatten a coyote. The targets were 3 foot tall by 4’ wide

That looks like a perforated coyote

How much drop did the center of the 90yd pattern have compared to 50

The 50 yard he aimed dead center. We both think he pulled the shot as it mostly was on the left side of the cardboard

90 yards he aimed about the same spot. I would’ve aimed a foot higher than the 50 yard pattern.

I’ve shot some crazy k es at 100. No difference in 90 to 100 in my eyes. It’s a mean one. He’s gonna crush them

I haven't shot tss at that speed
in a 28" barrel, #8 tss at 1150 fps the center of the 10" dropped 5-6 inches at 60yds from being sighted in dead on at 40yds

your load with the larger pellet and faster fps I would think should be a little flatter, 12 inches from 50 to 90 is probably pretty close

did you count pellets in a 10" or 12" for an idea of whats hitting the heart/lung area?
It looks deadly

I haven’t counted them. I’m so busy now and need to shoot a ton of patterns to have ready for the convention for the turkey ammo now, I’ll probably shoot and then start counting after I’m all done.

I got some coyote fever #2s in a couple weeks ago and was blow away at the pattern! I shot 3 different chokes at 50 yards and settled on my Kicks HF full. I can't wait to roll some dogs. I need to shoot a pattern farther out to see what they will do.

I’m looking forward to dead coyotes!

90-100 yard patterns will be nice also

That only needs a coyote standing in the way. Good pattern.
