That should be a fun one!
1-5/8 ounce or so of T9’s or T9.5’s ought to hammer one!

That’s what I’ll be loading for the NEF 3.5 12ga I was gifted
Scares me to think what a 3.5” load would do to my shoulder
Gil that gun is purdy
Re: Summer Project Gun
Beautiful gun! Any info on where you acquired and how much? Keep us posted on the progress! Any teasers as to where you’re headed with it?
Re: Summer Project Gun
Academy Sports, Brunswick, Ga. $139+ list; $150 after tax. Going to choke it with an overall length so that when it's folded, the barrel and buttplate will be flush. Thinking about putting a Skinner post and adjustable peep sight on it. It has solid steel rib which will be used to anchor sights. Sling studs and recoil pad will be added., although it does have a slim pad already. Haven't ruled out a red dot, but am leaning towards a Skinner that I was going to use on my Bobwhite 28 ga., but decided not to. Currently has a 28" barrel, but am looking to reduce it to an overall 21" more or less to the tip of the choke. It weighs a full pound more than my rigged out .410 single shot Yildiz. Probably going to keep loads light--1.25 to 1.375 oz. Gil
Re: Summer Project Gun
Love the skinner post and peep idea! That will be a sweet little lightweight thumper!
Re: Summer Project Gun
I think Walmart had/has them for $99.
I cut a barrel off to 18.5" for a guy at work and that is where he got his. That was last year so the price may have gone up.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have no need for a 30-06, I have a shotgun

Re: Summer Project Gun
If I am not mistaken WalMart carries the Hatfield Folder which is a hammergun and Academy has the exclusive on Yildiz which is hammerless. One oddity of the Yildiz is the inexpensive single shots often have very nice wood considering price. Gil
Re: Summer Project Gun
my bad, I did not notice the fact the hammer was missing. I just took a quick look and saw how it folded like the Hatfield.
Does the Yildiz have screw in chokes, I know the Hatfield did not?

Re: Summer Project Gun
The Yildiz doesn't have screw-ins. This one will once it gets cut down. Gil
Re: Summer Project Gun
Purdy gun Gil!!! All I can say is Snoopy hang on!!!
Re: Summer Project Gun
Gonna be a flyweight howitzer. What do the recoil numbers work out to?
Re: Summer Project Gun
The 12 ga. at 4.25 lbs. :
1.25 oz. at 1100 fps: 37 ft. lbs.
1.25 oz. at 1200 fps: 48 ft. lbs.
1.625 oz. at 1100 fps: 59 ft. lbs.
My .410 at 3.25 lbs. at 1100 fps (actually not that fast, but for comparison sake I chose the same velocity) 7/8 oz. 23 ft. lbs.
My Baikal MP18 20 ga. (5 lbs., 7 oz.) 1.625 oz. at 1100 fps: 45 ft. lbs.
1.25 oz. at 1100 fps: 28 ft. lbs.
With reasonable loads (excluding the obvious), it shouldn't be too bad in the field. Gil

Re: Summer Project Gun
I think that’s Sloopy hang on?
Re: Summer Project Gun
At the rate this summer project is moving along, it is on track to be a Spring project. Picked up barrel from Sumtoy yesterday and he did a nice job of taking creep out of trigger and lessening pull weight. He mounted Skinner peep and base for blade. Looks like I'll have to use fiber optic blade rather than tritium because the tritium post will be too high. I'll start out with the fiber optic sight. Wood is in Washington state and I should have it back in the next two weeks. Gil
Re: Summer Project Gun
That will be one sweet gun!
Re: Summer Project Gun
Lookin good. How's it choked? Gonna throw a bigger pattern than .410?
Re: Summer Project Gun
Hope it throws a bigger pattern. I know it will with Texas Dove loads, 7.5, 1.125 oz. at 1255 fps. It's a TruChoke thread and a flush mounted full will be tried if the .65 is too tight. I have various loads to try, etc. Got plenty of time between now and late March. Which is a reminder: Those who are short of shot, etc. Start looking now. Gil
Re: Summer Project Gun
Mark sent me photos of the woodwork. Light grain enhancement and the gobbler. I understand displaying gobbler colors in the woods is not a great idea, but I'm a right hand shooter and the artwork won't be facing outwards. I could wear a strutter decoy on my head as a hat to distract others from looking at the stock. If I get shot in the woods, it won't be because of the gun. Hope to get the wood in this week and run some loads through it. Will stick to lighter TSS loads in the 1.375 oz. and lighter loads because of the low weight of the gun. Gil

Looking good. Can't wait to see patterns.
