28 gauge with Carlson's .526 choke pattern.
28 gauge with Carlson's .526 choke pattern.
I wasn't completely satisfied with the factory full and TSS 9's (162 pellets in 10" @ 40 yards), so I ordered a Carlson's extended XF .560 choke. I'm pleased with the pattern AND the POI/POA are dead on using the factory bead. As soon as I can get my hands on some 9.5's and 10's I'll be trying those.

Nice, that was with the .526? Have you tried the 1 1/2 oz load? The factory full for my Yildiz 28ga O/U ID is .505, and the factory Mod is .525. Strange how tight Yildiz chokes are.Lonster wrote:

I will try the 1 1/2oz load next week with 9.5's (I've got to get some carpet runners for my new shot trap.

.505 seems crazy tight for a stock choke. Made me go measure my factory full for my SA-28 and it was .530, right where I thought it would be.

My factory measured .521. Wonder everybody’s is diff????

Try the 1-1/2oz load and you’ll see an improvement. Might even try the 1-5/8oz with 9’s. Haven’t shot the 1-5/16oz load yet. Been working on a 1-3/8oz load at the moment.
