Lights out turkey calls

Post by Justin W »

Anyone familiar with Wendell Rye’s aluminum calls? I just bought one used off of old gobbler for $40. Hopefully it sounds as good as it looks!

Yes, I have one in a Mahogany pot. He makes a fine aluminum call. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

I have at least 6 pot calls, a couple deer calls and some other stuff from Wendell.

As far as pot calls go they are all I use. I love his stuff.
I have copper, ceramic, aluminum, glass, slate. You name it and they all sound great.

Right now I carry a glass, aluminum, copper and aluminum. The glass is special to me as Wendell put a picture of my son and I on our first turkey hunt behind the glass.

I got the call in today. This thing is awesome! The craftsmanship and attention to detail when is was made is on another level. And it sounds like a dang hen turkey! The sharp cuts are unreal, another level for sure. It has a young, clean hen sound with staccato clucks and smooth yelps. Just a slight touch of rasp on the back end of the yelp. It’s going front row in my vest.

have heard the name but have not used his calls before. Yet, with todays prices $40 for a custom pot call is a good deal

Idk brother, I wouldn’t use them if free. A buddy of mine n I had a bunch at one time. Way too flat sounding and lifeless. They are beautiful though
