This is a meal that brought a smile and a tear to my eye... When Sally and I started dating 20+ years ago the first Sunday dinner she brought me to her folks for was Ham Balls... It was her favorite meal. Sal was a meat & tater with a glass of milk kinda girl.... Myself I'd never had Ham balls so much to her dismay I dubbed them "Pig Balls" When Sally would make "pig balls" I wasn't allowed in the kitchen but did see and hear some of the ingredients... So I finally set out to make them based on what I saw and heard and found the closest recipe I could to make them.... Actually really paid attention as I wanted them to be right...
They're close real close, made them with Garlic Smashed Potatoes, Candied Carrots and Cornbread... A nice Sunday Dinner like she enjoyed.
The Lil Things let her memory live on....
A Sally Meal

Not busting your balls, but what's the "Balls" recipe you used. BTW, not a chance a carrot is gonna make my plate and Sal is proud of you !

Re: A Sally Meal
Pretty simple really... I only made a lb because it's just me and boogs....
Lb ground ham
1/4 cup crushed crackers
Egg
Lil milk
Some add pineapple sal and her ma don't so I didn't...
Glaze
1/2 c vinegar
1/2 c water
1 1/2 c brown sugar
Tsp mustard powder
Mix and simmer til blended
Put balls in 9x13 pour 1/2 glaze over bake 350 for 45 flip um re baste bake 15
I took the leftover glaze simmered added cornstarch to a splash water made a slurry added simmered til thickened and spooned over the meatballs before serving
Sal finished um in a slow cooker and continually basted...
First time I had em was shocked there delicious, different... Can't see why anyone wouldn't like them...
