My wife really wants to retire to Bali. It's really beautiful there and a very inexpensive place to live. But there's already too many people there, there's no turkeys to hunt, health care is minimal, and the volcanoes are a bit too active for my tastes. I hope she has a nice time and remembers to send me post cards from time to time.

Good luck on sending the wife to Bali. I should retire several years before my wife. I keep getting blank stares whenever I start talking about retirement plans. Something about that whole hitting the road on my own thing, I think.

Exactly my thoughts! I can live for some time in other places, but there's no such place as home.

Had to delete at least 5 or 6 others in different posts on here. Odd

From this to this. Both are Florida deer. The big deer was in Hardee county.

Paraguay... a gated community with armed guards. Money goes three times farther. You can get one of those young "senoritas" to do the dishes and laundry for like $20 a month...lol

Always like these threads. I retired in 1995 and almost immediately moved from central Ohio to western Kentucky. We had purchased a lake front lot on Kentucky Lake many year's prior when it was affordable. We stayed there nine years and while the Lake was great as was LBL everything else was a trade off. My wife had health problems and the local health care was marginal (an understatement). We often drove two hours to find the proper care in Nashville. Winters were similar to Ohio and often experienced below zero temperatures. When a majority of the wife's family moved to south Florida our Kentucky days were numbered. Now live in North Port. Everything is a trade off. We've seen that many who make a run for their dream retirement destinations often stay 4 or 5 years and then head back to the home grounds just to be near the grandkids etc. BTW - if I currently lived in MT I'd be getting nervous. Way too much interest on these forums regarding this state.

I'll throw in a "small" Florida deer picture also. Always give a smirk when an Ohio or KY friend mentions that Florida deer are small. This one from central Florida also and would not get any native hunter too excited.

Here are some more early 80’s Florida deer, back when I could run fast. These are all Polk county deer and hog. I used to be a deer hunter. Now they’re to heavy to carry so I’m strictly a turkey hunter. The turkeys are getting heavier every year, thinking about becoming a squirrel hunter. Don’t make fun of my hair, shorts or legs. I’m kind of sensitive and my feelings get hurt pretty easy.
