Happy Birthday to me !

So on Saturday morning after my Daughter FoxTrotted a good un on Friday, I woke her up and asked if she was ready to go. She then proceeded to let me know she was a little tired and was gonna sleep in and maybe go out later if I was gonna go. Well I head out and let the woods wake up, bird gobbling out in front of me but down a very steep ridge and he proceeded to just take the lazy route following some hens away. Well for being mid May and already hitting 70° with humidity I decided to head back to camp and see if sleeping beauty wanted breakfast before we headed home. Wait did I mention it being my Birthday !!! So her gourmet breakfast of cinnamon toast crunch cereal and a glass of chocolate milk we packed up and and I told her we would hit a few places on the way home so dress light and get ready to walk possibly.. so as we're driving by the farm where I started, my Daughter announces "there's a strutter" ! I look over and on the edge of the swamp is Mr Handsome putting it on. So we park up the road and cut across the hay field and I let out a yelping/cutting series and he cuts me off. Asses and elbows to get setup . He literally was way closer than I thought and was on us super quick. Gotta love kids as guides, "Daddy he's right there" ! Literally 20 yds and just doing the strut walk, BOOM ! 20 Gauge for the win, best birthday gift from my Daddy/Daughter trip to go back to back on Gobblers ! Unfortunately he had been shot prior to me killing him, infection everywhere in his legs and right breast, yellow/green color and nasty smelling. Only weighed 15.3 lbs with a 9 1/2" beard and 1"" spurs. Oh and an added bonus we found some early Morels !

The only way that could be better is if you doubled up with your kids and was able to pick some asparagus afterwards to compliment the meal
