Most realistic owl call

Post by Jstocks »

Who makes the most realistic barred owl call?

Long story short, I used to be able to boot really good with my natural voice, but now I cannot. I’m not sure why, I just can’t make the sounds anymore. Figured I may buy one of those barred owl tubes for the few times I may consider hooting. I’ll admit, I very rarely use any kind of locator call, but wouldn’t mind having the option.

I have a old Knight&Hale owl call that sounds really good, a lot of people really like the Harrison Hoot’n Stick.

James Harrison designed Hooks Hoot N Stick.... Pretty much the staple on stage, most realistic, easy to use.... Really know discernible difference between synethetic and wood in sound...

I'd you want something a lil fancier and custom James ,(Designer)makes the same design in all kind of exotics under his companies name Harrison Custom Calls...

It's the owl call by which all others are judged

I couldn't agree more with the folks recommending the Harrison. The hoot n stick is a cut above.

Hoot n stick is the most realistic I've heard in awhile. Back in the day, the Original Palmers Hoot Flute was excellent. The wood one not the plastic. But those are as scarce as hens teeth.

Did some video searches… my goodness you guys are right. Those things sound great. I wonder how much practice it takes to sound that good with one?

I think the best owl hooter ever made was the ones that Palmer made himself they are like finding the holy grail if you could find one made by him. Years back the Palmer duo would win the grand national owl hoot. But James is the new sheriff in town.

Joe Slaton makes a good owl call I own one and it sounds great

Houndstooth Morning Strike is good. You can look it up on YouTube….
“Son, Turkey HUNTING starts at 40yds and in. If you can kill him farther that’s all you’re doing- KILLING. Make him think he’s answering you, call him up, kill him closer-Man! Now that’s what it’s meant to be…” Johnnie Keel ( an Old Pro most never know)

James Harrison for sure. My favorite call maker for owl, crow, and deer calls. I have one of each.
