2022 Numero DOS

Post by HunterGKS »

This g-hog has been getting the better of me for 3 days. It would be on the north side of my butcher shop
or to the NW out in the yard. I had been going out the side door, slipping to the end of the butcher shop
for a shot. It always managed to disappear before I got there. I’m not sure what spooked it as I was very
quiet & kept out of sight.

Today, she made a mistake. I looked out the kitchen window & she was feeding on some green grass. This
time, I changed my plan. I usually use my .223 but had some oral surgery 2 weeks ago & didn’t want to take
a chance on doing damage so I grabbed the .17. This time, I went out the front door & literally hugged the
west side of my house. I got to a corner, peeked around, & she was nibbling with her back to me when the
.17 barked & she took 1 to the head. Now I have to start looking for another 1.

Go get em . I used to know people who ate them- I guess it might be like a larger squirrel?

I tried to skin 1 once & it was a real PIA. A deer is easier. I've heard they're good to eat
but I just can't do it. Probably no worse than coon which is good BBQed if not a little greasy.

I've already killed twice as many as all of last year. I don't know what you expect from me.

I ate one years ago. My brother used to eat them all the time.
