Franchi 20 g nitro TSS #9 choke recommendation?
Franchi 20 g nitro TSS #9 choke recommendation?
just bought a box of 25 nitro tss #9's in the 20 gauge 3 inch 0nly to find out indian creek is out of stock of the black diamond strike 555 they recommended for my son's Franchi. Anyone try any other choke tubes with this combination? Read somewhere a Carlsons did well. Thanks
Re: Franchi 20 g nitro TSS #9 choke recommendation?
Carlsons shoot good in all my guns. Never the tightest, but always good hunting patterns.
What payload are you shooting?
If they are 1 5/8 oz, I can’t imagine Nitro being any different than any other tss handloads. My experience is to use a .575 to .582 for nice even hunting patterns.
If you want to win paper target competitions for numbers in 10” circles at 40 yards, use something tighter.

Contrary to popular belief, the tightest choke ain't always the best choice. As stated already, if you want a good uniform hunting pattern then I'd try IC .562 or .570 and don't overlook the Primos tightwad. Don't let the fact because it's not crazy expensive fool you into thinkin its not gonna shoot good. I have 3 of them and they all shoot very deadly hunting patterns.
