Mossberg 930 Troubleshooting

Post by redarrow »

Trying to help out a friend .Brand new 930 . Bolt is hung up half way and he cant even get the barrel off. He removed the trigger group and was able to pull the bolt back, but wont close more than halfway .

My guess is it has something to do with the "rear shell stop assembly" # 15 in the parts diagram. I had a similar issue with my 935 the first year i got it. I had to send it in to mossberg and they fixed it under warranty.

Thanks for the reply. However 10 minutes after my post he called and said he figured it out. The dang screws the gunsmith used on the scope mount were too long. DOOHHHHH

Well glad to hear it was an easy fix at least... Ive had the exact same problem with a "gunsmith" before. Didnt stop the bolt but made it a lot harder to cycle in my 870.

Definitely a rookie mistake.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

You said he cant get the barrel out either. Surely he didnt drill and tap through the receiver and the barrel did he?

Rookie "Gunsmith" mistake

Wanna' hear bout' my new 1100, back when, I had the plain barrel shortened and inventor choke put in, by a proclaimed "Gunsmith"???? ;)

After for the 1st short, and few shot goose hunt, the choke was crimped up, from the inside and flared outwards of the barrel

Got it back and 2nd time, shot 3 of my light reloads and "Tame Ting" :banghead:

Hey, got a new short Remington factory barrel with inventor chokes after 1 1/2 years ;)
ever wonder where the white goes when the snow melts??
