Load Recipe help/purchase

Post by tracker8320 »

Working on new 555 Stevens O/U project setup. The 40-yard bottom barrel I'm running Hal's big 20xl with #8s (NY) and Ronnys "Lil hammer" with IC.562 and Trulock Pinhoti .560. I haven't shot the .560 yet but the IC does okay. I have a Trulock .596 full for shoe top to 20-25 yards in top barrel. Planning on using lead, for now, LB #6s or 3rd degree. Wanted to hand-roll my own also for closer shots, thinking maybe heavy #7s? Would like suggestions or recipe I could purchase, contact information, appreciate any input, good luck and be safe out there, thanks...

The gas seal extra to the wad raised the wad column to where there wasn't enough hull to crimp, roll or star. I removed the standalone gas seal and all was well. This was the Fiocchi hull recipe. Gil

I also loaded it for 2.75" by trimming the hull to 2.75" and the wad by not quite .10". Other than that and not using the extra gas seal, same recipe, and it shot fine out of a 2.75" chamber using 7.5 lead. It appeared to be dense enough for 30 yard kills. Gil
