Best Buck (so far)
So had a two year history with this one. Gotta a lot of cam footage last year but except for once ( in a thunderstorm) no daytime movement. I knew I wasn’t close to where he spent the day so late summer had me scouting and hanging cams around the thicket where I thought he may live. It turned out to be right before archery season started that I got my first daylight pics of him. He was basing in the thicket I originally thought but was moving into a 9month old timber cut to feed on the lush new growth. Hung an easily accessible stand in a couple, acre “finger” of pines extending into the cutover and waited for the wind. I was on my fourth hunt in 31/2 weeks when he showed moving through on Oct 29- wind was right, cold front rt after a rain and Halloween WE. 32yd shot ( which is a little further than I like) and the 546.2 grain Magnus Stinger tipped arrow penetrated roughly 26” of deer on the quartering away shot. He went about 120yds and brought the saga to an end. 148 3/8 which is a respectable buck for East central MS.

Congratulations on your fine buck! Got any pictures?
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Congrats. That's a great buck.

Great deer!
Re: Best Buck (so far)
That is a nice deer for anywhere. Mississippi has bigger deer than a lot of people would think. The delta is the big buck hot spot, but East Central and Central have some fine bucks.
I was hunting in between Macon and Louisville this past weekend. The rut should be kicking off any day now with this weather change. Some big deer on camera, but none shot at my buddy’s camp this weekend except a 3.5 year old 6 point.
I have hunted a camp between Louisville and Kosciusko for years. Always big deer killed there between December 15 and New Years.
