Great Blue Heron on a Dead Fall

Post by HunterGKS »

On the drive home after lunch today, I spotted this GBH sitting on a downed tree
overlooking the Brokensword Creek. I believe it was fishing. This is the same spot
where I have gotten a lot of duck & geese pics & a few GBHs. I was surprised that
this bird never flew. I have found them to be easily spooked & take wing quickly.
This one didn’t seem to be concerned at all that I was there.

Caught this guy fishing on the Huron river in Flatrock. He's so use to humans he doesn't fly away either.

It's amazing that they can fish in water that rough.

He's directly below a spillway. we are standing on the covered bridge across the river. This pic is from a couple years ago and shows the bridge and spillway.

They are making it hard on our native brookie population round here. Never saw them 20 years ago and now they are everywhere. All the way back in the little 1' wide streams back in the mtns.

God Bless, Louis
