Day 4 of the 2021 Ohio Deer Season – 12/02

Post by HunterGKS »

I noticed the moon was barely a sliver this morning & was going to take a pic but it was gone by the time
I was ready at my stand. It was cloudy, breezy, & 46 with everything being wet from an overnight rain at
06:57 when I was ready to go. I set the Heater Buddy to low to take off the initial chill.

At 07:20, 4 deer, 2 does & 2 fawns, I think, as it was still too dark to tell at a distance, moved from the
east to the south side of the west section & disappeared. A red squirrel came down a tree in front of me
& also disappeared. At 07:40, a mouse ran along the left side rail & stopped at the corner, looking at me
for about 1 minute. It then ran along the front rail to the other corner & up outside to the roof & was gone.
The sun came up red & bright at 08:00. The mouse reappeared at 12:05 jumped to the propane tank, down
to the shelf, along the shelf, jumping to the floor & out an opening at the base of the door. The wind was
pretty gusty all day but didn’t affect me like yesterday when it was cold.

It was a great day to be in the woods with clearing skies, still breezy, & 53 when I got bored & left at 14:30.
Based on how I feel & tomorrows weather report, I probably won’t go out until Sat.

I was up, dressed, & ready to go yesterday at 06:00 but started feeling pretty poorly & decided my
season was over. I went out yesterday afternoon, loaded everything on the 4-wheeler, brought it
all home & put everything away. It just wasn't worth going out & maybe getting sicker. There's
always next year.
