Blackstone Grill Again

Post by Hobbes_mobile »

I finally cranked the grill up a couple of weeks ago on my granddaughter's birthday and cooked burgers. This evening was fairly nice weather so I cooked tri-tip and shrimp along with mushrooms and asparagus.

Grill Review:
I wish this grill would get hotter. I can't hardly get the sear that I want on steaks and it takes forever to heat oil on the fryer side then it struggles to hold heat if I deep fry very much. It may be that the regulator just holds it back too much.

I've got to build a real patio table for this thing but for now it's just sitting on a folding table that's really dirty after sitting outside all winter.

Prepped and ready to cook:

Steaks on next

Then the shrimp

I threw the veggies back on for a quick warmup then headed into the house

Ready to eat

I can't compete with Tom's variety but this was quite good. I could probably stand some late night leftovers just thinking about it. A potato and bread would have topped it off but I'm supposed to be taking it easy on carbs. I'm not doing too well lately.

I have a 17" with the adapter to use a big cylinder. Does yours just use the little camping bottles?

Mine gets very hot, especially with the lid I bought

Nothing wrong with that, Hobbes. It all looks killer!
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Shane. I've had an issue on my grill with #20 bottles once or twice. Is this your first bottle?
Try unhooking the bottle and re hooking it up. Sounds crazy but the new style propane bottles sometimes don't allow full gas pressure to the burners. I'm thinking that there's an anti leak float in there or something that doesn't allow full pressure to the burners.
When it happens on a grill, it will fire up but only get to a low heat.
Dunno. Might be worth a try. Only takes a minute.

Hobbes, I have the big 36" flat top and it gets super hot, currently running the standard 20# tank. We love potato slices about 1/4 to 3/8 thick fried in a little oil and sprinkle with sea salt. And yes your meal above would definitely make my day complete !!!

I have a spare hose/regulator that I'll try if that doesn't work.

Outstanding meal. That looks absolutely delicious.
Did it help to reset the regulator, Shane?

It seemed like it helped. The grill was smoking pretty good.

Yeah.. My favorite steak and they were dirt cheap before the cat got out of the bag is a Chuck eye.. Not the big 1 lb plus chuckeye the lil 6-8oz ones . They are a poor man's ribeye or butchers cut..

There's only I believe 2 on a cow, they are cut rib before ribeye.. They were cheap when I used buy them then cat got outta the bag and they have skyrocketed..
