Jazzed up Campbell's Gumbo Soup Sloppy

Post by ICDEDTURKES »

Got some more Venison burger. Decided to make something I hadn't had in a while. I never really ate Sloppy Joe's then a buddy made these and I liked them. He used the Campbell's recipe found on their website. I jazzed it up a lil bit. It's super easy. I didn't know this was as popular as it is until I looked at their website.

1lb Ground Venison
1 Onion Chopped
2 Garlic Cloves I pressed mine but you can mince um. I'm just dang sick of mincing garlic.
1 10.5oz Campbell's Chicken Gumbo Soup
1 Pepper diced I used half a yellow half a red. Any color or color combo works
1 jalepeno seeded and deveined. Omit or add more based on palate
1/2 Tsp Cajun Seasoning
1 TBSP Spicy Brown Mustard
Freshly Ground Black Pepper to taste

Mince garlic, chop onion, dice pepper. Throw burger, garlic and onion in pan med-high to brown. When what you feel you are a few minutes from being browned add peppers to slightly soften.

When burger is browned onion is translucent add can of Soup, Cajun Spice, Pepper and Mustard. I did not drain grease as there was very little.. Stir well til it simmers a few minutes. I used soft Kaiser buns.
My additions nothing huge, but definitely adds to the dish: garlic, peppers, Jalepenos, Cajun Seasoning. I had okra out but decided against it. Diced Celery would give you the Holy Trinity.

I had with the Surprsingly good frozen Green Giant corn covered in butter and Tony Chachere BOLD which is hot. These Sloppys are Sloppy and I usually have with chips and the globs that fall off scooped up is like dessert.

Maybe you've done um maybe not but a simple easy twist on Sloppy Joe's.

Note: the soup is seasonal and can be difficult to find.

All day, every day! That looks killer!! I love it just as good cold! Being a retired Ironworker, I've eaten more cold lunches than hot. I got to the point where I would rather eat somethings cold. Sloopy Joe's is one of them. I love cold spaghetti, pizza and chicken. Lunch mostly.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?
