So had a friend that always battered his venny with crushed chips, never had it.
Other day one of the cooking pages I follow had a recipe for chip battered tenders. I didn't have tenders but musta mis read the pack of chicken drumsticks at the store .thought I grabbed a family pack, it must be the Amish family pack. So I decided try five tonight
Made a seasoned flower, Shook them in that, next egg bath, then to bag of crushed Potato Chips and into the oven at 425 til 165. About 30 minutes
Pretty dang awesome, easy, flavor was good and batter stuck great. Possibilities are endless in flavors as well meat. Made with oven baked Wedges which are great, got a lil done at 425 as I normally do 400.
Anyone ever used chips as breading?

Re: Chip Batter
I’ve used ritz crackers for breading on turkey nuggets. With crushed walnuts.
That looks good. Gonna have to crush some chips

Looking good! I like chicken any way,
shape or form. I've never breaded with potato chips but have used instant potato buds before. Probably the same thing but the chips would be seasoned already.
Is that stovetop stuffing. Another favorite. Easy, quick and very tasty!
Well done, Maestro!

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I love wings, so could see doing this to some wings. Ive always loved chicken but some of these chicken breasts I see at the grocery make me wonder. The dang things are the size of a small turkey. That's not natural

Re: Chip Batter
I hear ya on the size of the breasts. We do an awful lot of the thighs. East to grill, meaty and juicy! Nowadays, the chickens aren't roaming so the thigh meat is about as white as breast meat and much juicier.

Had some fish last summer that was fried with potato buds and crushed kettle cooked sea salt and black pepper potato chips. Really good.

BarBQ chips work well for the coating. I have used it on fish and turkey. We have a brand here called UTZ. They make some killer honey BarBQ chips. My favorite for coating.
