870 12ga

Post by Turkinator »

I must be deranged but I’m wanting to set up my 870 12ga with a FF3 and hunt with it occasionally. It’s factory drilled and tapped. But I’m wondering what mount to use. I have the marlin336 mount on my 20ga 870. Anyone mount a FF3 on a 12ga 870? And if so, what mount did you go with?

Waiting to hear all the answers- I have the same question
“Son, Turkey HUNTING starts at 40yds and in. If you can kill him farther that’s all you’re doing- KILLING. Make him think he’s answering you, call him up, kill him closer-Man! Now that’s what it’s meant to be…” Johnnie Keel ( an Old Pro most never know)

Yes, I went with a Burris 336 mount (with FF2, not FF3) on my SP Turkey 870 12 ga. It works great for me!

Marlin 336 is my favorite for the burris ff series optics. Sometimes the holes can be a little funny getting them lined up. The sumtoys are good also.

Here is what happens when you take one of your guns out for a quick hunt after work today, 32 yards, LB #6's 3.5 " from a .660 Carlson LB choke,Rem 870,12 gauge 3.5" 23", this gun flat out shoots outstanding out to 60 yards, I havent hunted with it in 2 years and I think Iv'e shot 2 toms on 3 hunts in total with it, this is my first double beard,2nd biggest biggest spurred and heaviest bird I've shot, 24 lbs 8 oz, exactly 2 oz heavier than my heaviest before. Ive killed a lot of turkeys over the years and seen a lot die, and I've personally never seen a double beard around these parts, too bad he flopped and busted some feathers up. This hunt lasted about 15 seconds, I'm tagged out for year but I still have a week to tag along and hunt with some family.

Thanks, I had a great day, made some cash at work, sold two of my pups for lots of cash and then killed a double bearded longbeard, all before 1245pm.

I have a Burris 336 and FF II on my 1187, which seems to have the same receiver profile as the 870. Nice, low, clean looking setup.

EGW is the one to use for the 870. They won’t loosen ever and not saying the 336 isn’t a good mount. It is I just prefer the EGW. User friendly
