Just saw this gun. Only comes in 12 GA but looks good. Cool thing I saw is that it has a cut out spot on the receiver for a red dot. See how that works, would be nice if it did

If it was available in a 20, I would be interested....I just have no desire to lug around a 12 gauge shotgun all day.

With that said, it looks pretty good and I would be interested to see a review!

It looks like on their website that it’s a specific reddot that it’s drilled for.

Or would a Burris FF3 fit it also?

How does any major gun company make a new turkey shotgun and not make one in 20ga? Seriously? Come on guys. It’s almost like they’re not familiar with TSS and what seems to me to be a pretty big trend in turkey guns.

That's a good looking gun. TSS or not, I'm still good with a 12.

A really sharp looking gun! I see theres 2 models, 18.5" barrel and a 24" barrel. Pretty neat design with the red dot mount built into the receiver. Been wondering why no gun company has made new guns dipped in greenleaf, i dont have a degree in marketing but seems like any decent new turkey gun dipped in greenleaf would fly off the shelves. Ive always been a mossberg fan, nice to see them coming out with guns like this. Seems like mossberg is one of the few good american gun companIes we have left. I dont see them offering this gun in 20 ga though. They import the sa-08. Now if they were to put these features(greenleaf, integrated red dot mount) into the 500 series 12, 20ga and i really think theyd be onto smething!

I like it, and agree a 20 would be great. I searched for quite a while attempting to find a SA-20 with no success.

Looks interesting . I was kind of surprised by a 18.5 and 24 inch barrel . 18.5 is kind of short . How about just a 21 or 22 .

I noticed that one of the local sporting goods stores had a Mossberg 930 pistol grip in 12 and a 500 pump in 410. The 12 felt nice but I need one like I need a hole in my head. I'd go with the 940 if I was looking for a new 12. The .410 was pretty cool, but I can't say that I have a ton of interest in hunting with one. Still a cool looking gun. I was kind of shocked that they had them, at least the pistol grip turkey 12. Turkey guns aren't hot items here.

Cool. I’d like one in a 20 gauge with a pistol grip.

It just seems there is so much miss alignment between what turkey hunters really want and what gun manufactures are making.

20ga, 22" or less barrel, Drilled and tapped for red dot sights, standard models with pistol grip and standard grip. Some of them have hit the mark almost but they seem too miss one of them too long of a barrel or its perfect but only in 12ga.

but then I would not get to enjoy building the perfect turkey gun. :D

The only semi auto with a 21-22” barrel I’ve seen is the 11/87. There’s lots of semi 20’s but they all have 24” barrels. I agree that no one is putting together my dream turkey gun. Short stock, short barrel, bottomland or obsession, drilled and tapped, 20ga!

You would think that a company that is looking to make the "ultimate turkey gun" would hit up forums like this and just throw out the question, "what makes the perfect turkey gun?"

Or a company like Mossberg could put together Frankenstein guns (they have enough options out there, seems like it would be fairly easy)....tell them what you want and they have enough in our inventory options to make it
- LOP options
- Camo options
- Gauge options
- Barrel Length Options
- Semi/Pump
- Sight Options (drill and tap vs "rifle" sights)
- Choke Options
- Sling Options

Yeah, it might cost a little more out of a custom shop, but when you are spending $1000 on a gun, what's another $200 or $300 to get EXACTLY what you want, right?

These turkey forums make up a relatively small portion of the overall market. The gun manufacturers have marketing folks and are fully aware of which guns they sell the most of. It's still a 12. That may well be changing, but it's not enough of the market for them to produce a 20 first.

They have multiple models of this gun; waterfowl, competition, turkey, etc. The majority of those guys are still shooting 12s. The machining and molding is the same for all models and setting that up for a 12 will cover the largest market share.

Maybe they'll make a 20 next year.

Per Mossberg’s web site it says: “940 Pro Turkey shotguns come optic-ready, with receiver cuts that accept low-profile direct mounting of Shield RMSc-pattern micro dot sights.” Looks like it just fits the Shield series unless someone makes an adapter plate. You would have thought the Fastfire/Viper base would have been more popular….
