Contriction on 16 gauge

Post by aristico »

Was wondering what you guys would consider the best constriction on a 16 gauge barrel?

I like .605 in my standard bore guns.
.615 does well also and is a little more forgiving, I just prefer a bit tighter pattern. That said I know of one particular gun (buddy's rem 870) that patterns the .615 much better than the .605, however mine does not. So you may have to tinker a bit, 16s can be a little finicky choke wise. A slight change can make a huge difference in your patterns.

If it were me I would start with the .605

I have a skinny bore the takes beretta/benelli mobil chokes that has a smaller bore and requires less choke typically. For that I use .030 in the bottom and .035 in the top

Get there early, stay late, sit still and don't use weather as an excuse to stay home.
