Dogs and coyotes update!

Post by Hoobilly »

My son called me this morning and said the dog runners are ready. So I loaded up the Beretta 1301 Tactical and we ready

Dogs running coyotes is pretty cool to watch

One coyote made it to a place we can’t kill them. Oh well it’s better than sitting at home

Son killed one approximately 90 yards. He walked a mile on a fencerow as the dogs made the coyote circle.

We run them with those Walker hounds a good bit. The coyote population has been cut back a bit where we hunt to a satisfactory level.

Looks like great fun. I love shooting those gnarly critters.

Did you ever have a yote turned on the dogs? If so, what happened?

When I lived in Manchester near Aurora in the '60s, we coon hunted a lot & I've seen coons unass a tree
& tear up a coon dog. We used Blueticks, Black & Tans, Redbones, & Walkers primarily with the occasional Plott.

Are yours Walkers?

We run the heck out of em in NE NC this time of year and the yote population has taken a hit in last 5 years. We turn out 10-100 dogs on em. Depends on how many guys are hunting that day. The guys don't even carry a gun any more.

Coons can be dangerous. No joke, my dad and I have seen this several times Boar coon going across field. 2 coyotes walking past the coon and not trying to eat it

We had a young pup one time, when there were 4-5 dogs runnin', that got in front and got partially whipped enough that he went runnin' away down one of the trails.
One of the guys saw it and let us know and he'd gotten a couple miles away, headed the other direction, before we could track the collar to him!!
Too many dogs would kill em' unless the coyote got into a blowdown ;)

I e watched a few videos where dogs kill yotes.

Son and his buddies killed a couple today. They wanted me to join the fun but I’ve got ammo to make
