New goose call

Post by Hoobilly »

Been a long time since I’ve bought any waterfowl calls. 10-13 years or so. Bought 2 new Tim Grounds calls. One arrived yesterday.

OverHauler in green with bead blasted stainless.

This is the easiest goose call I’ve ever run And I’ve got a couple Grounds and a Saunders call.

You can run this soft and loud. Wish I would’ve bought one of these years ago. Now I’ll send off my older Grounds to have Hunter put new reeds in them and tube them for me.

I like the shaved reed that they do. I just let them do it all.

I can tune one if it’s a good call to begin with.

Never run one of his. My oldest goose call is a early cocobola Tim Grounds. Can twist the barrel in and out to get the right tone you want. Has cork on it to make it easier for moving it.

Corks dried and cracked and my barrel cracked. Hopefully Hunter can change it. If not I’ll have him redo the cork and I’ll just put it on the shelf.

You have to hum when you blow it to make it sound older

OverHauler is an excellent call. Grounds calls are amazing. I have switched to Field Proven calls for reasons a bit outside of my control. However had that opportunity not come along, I would probably still be using Grounds calls. That said I know love the Field brothers calls and would have a hard time leaving them.

Never field proven before. I’ve run a few over the years and very few of those impressed me. Not that I’m a know it all 😂

My air delivery agrees with their calls, not all people's will. Plus I would say there is not a "standard" tune on theirs, each person is going to have to tune to themselves. Maybe a little more advanced calls in general. The sound is amazing though. That said I ran with Zink before switching to Fields, those calls, design, everything are very similar. And for good reason Field and Clay Hudnall worked for/with for Zink for a decent stint.

I’ve run a few zinks and didn’t like them. I haven’t bought one and tried to tune it
