Day 7 of the 2020 Ohio Squirrel Season

Post by HunterGKS »

I had planned on hitting “my” primary turkey woods between 07:00 & 07:30 but,
when I got up a little after 06:00 this morning, there was a lot of lightning & it
was really wind, so back to bed I went.

At 10:00, the wind had turned into a breeze so off I went. It was 71, overcast
with a lot of rumbling to the north, & a strong breeze at 10:48 when I got sat
down on the south side of the woods. As I rounded the corner near where I park,
a doe jumped from the edge of the corn into the woods.

It was pretty dark in the woods & kept getting darker as the thunder moved south
& closer but it did sound like it was off to the west. At about 11:20, I decided
that discretion was the better part of valor & started getting ready to move to the
north side of the woods. At about 11:20:30, it started to rain but for less than a
minute. I got everything together & started to double time it to the truck. I got
about 50 yards from the truck & it started to come down pretty hard. I was able
to get everything in the truck without getting too wet. I was almost back to the
road when the skies opened up. If I had waited just a few minutes long, I would
have gotten soaked. It was 68 when I left at 11:30.

At least now, I have the time to get some chores done around the house.

Thus endith the epistle for Day 7.
