Merry Christmas!
First thing Friday morning I headed out to do some coyote calling before I was supposed to show up at the rancher's corrals to help brand some calves at 9:00 am.
On the first stand I had two coyotes headed my way after playing Bay Bee Cottontail for about 6 or 7 minutes. The front coyote was about 100 yards ahead of the second coyote.
The grass was so much higher this year I was having problems getting a clear shot on the front coyote and it was not stopping even after I muted the sound.
The front coyote went right by the muted caller and got wind of my caller. The front coyote turned around and was headed out faster than it came in.
The second coyote turned around and headed out also but I knew it didn't get my wind.
I hit my #1 pre-set sound Coyote Pup Screams on full blast. The second coyote stopped and turned broadside at just a little over 100 yards away.
My 22-250 put the coyote down hard.

If I would have had a shotgun shooter on this stand we would of had a great chance of getting both coyotes.
The next stand I could see forever out in front of me but back to my right I knew a coyote could be on me in a hurry without me seeing it until it got within 30 yards of the caller.
After playing Snow Shoe Hi-Pitch for almost 10 minutes a coyote from my right ran right in front of my caller heading out into the wide open spaces to my left.
This coyote didn't smell me or my caller but it was heading out pretty fast. So I hit my #1 pre-set again and this coyote stopped and looked back at about 150 yards away. My 22-250 did the job again.

I didn't see a thing on my third stand.
I headed for the corrals to help with the branding.

After the branding was done at about 2:00 pm I headed out to do some more coyote calling stands before I headed home.
The first stand nothing showed up.
On the next stand I was calling down a deep canyon, I was thinking if any coyotes came in they would come up the bottom of the canyon. I was wrong again, I spotted a coyote dropping down the other side of the canyon heading for my FoxPro.

Right after I took the last above picture the coyote looked up at me and didn't know what I was and stopped to look at me about 25 yards away. My shotgun dropped this coyote.
