On the way home from lunch today, Moms ran across the road in front of me at about 30 yards.
I have learned that, if you see 1 deer, there are probably others, so I always slow down & start
to brake. As it turns out, she had 2 very young, very tiny fawns trailing her who stumbled across
the road in front of me. Luckily I was going slowly enough that I could come to a complete stop.
If I hadn’t stopped, I would have had a couple of small, very tender bambi sandwiches lodged in
my grill as they were within feet of the truck when I stopped.
After a right hand turn, I could see the family running across the field. Moms had waited on the
kidz & they were leading the way to the woods.
These were the 1st 2 fawns I have seen this year. They couldn’t have been much older than a
couple of weeks if that.
BE WATCHFUL & READY TO STOP AS THE DROP HAS STARTED!!
This collage is of a fawn we found in 2009 & the 2 today were even smaller.

They were droppin' in MI a couple weeks ago already and think that cussed coyote, patrolling around here, has kept us from seeing even 1 fawn this spring, even in the trail cams
Of 3 hens, 0 poult pics and I finally got the coon, I had to leave before I headed to MI.
Trap is still set for revenge

This is the ideal time to be catching coyotes as fast as possible and locating and eliminating dens. Each coyote will kill an estimated 12 fawns to feed its litter of pups. Shooting one coyote a week with a thermal scope while educating the rest is not predator control. Stay after them fellas
Re: They're Dropping!!
Black bears devastate way more than coyotes here in MA. A lactating Sow will kill as many as possible, we are the 3rd most populated in black bear numbers. No baiting, no dogs and a human population that "enjoys" seeing them ! The state of CT is absolutely getting overrun with them and refusing to establish a season, constant bear/human conflicts on a daily basis ! Trust me coyotes are on a shall kill order around the house
