Hey anyone hunt this area in late April early May? I’ll be there April 22nd-May 5th and wanted to get an idea of how the weather normally is. TIA

I live in the area. In general, lows in mid 40’s-50’s, highs in 70’s. Not too rainy, but obviously depends on the year.

I live there, the weather is usually pretty mild, maybe a light frost in the morning, it won’t be anything extreme either direction

That’s what I like to hear. I’ve dealt with snow storms and teens the last two seasons in SD and NB. It makes camping impossible and long nights sleep in the cab of a Silverado.Turkinator wrote:I live there, the weather is usually pretty mild, maybe a light frost in the morning, it won’t be anything extreme either direction

You will likely encounter ticks and skeeters! But when I hunted Oklahoma I met your buffalo gnats!!!! Skeeters won’t match them!!!!Okiehunter wrote: ↑December 5th, 2022, 8:04 pmThat’s what I like to hear. I’ve dealt with snow storms and teens the last two seasons in SD and NB. Little late in the response. Born in OH and lived in KY so know both pretty well. A rainy spell will be your biggest problem. I would not hesitate to tent camp in either state during the periods you listed. Ticks will be a concern as well as early morning mosquitoes. I would treat my clothes and carry a Thermacell. You will be fine. Good luck.

I had a feeling ticks and mosquitoes might be an issue. I’ll stock up on thermacell stuff and deet now. Thanks for the heads upjoey46 wrote:Little late in the response. I live in central KY and hunt north eastern, eastern, and central Ky most years. It depends on the year, typically it’s low 40’s in the mornings and highs of upper 70’s, low 80’s by lunch. It can go from clear sky’s to monsoon in an hour or two. I’d say carry gear ranging from your cold weather snow gear to shorts and a tank top.
