Pistol grip or not?
I thought for some time that I wanted a pistol grip on my turkey gun. I think they look cool and real useful. Last winter I did a few predator hunts with my AR 15. It involved sitting still and calling, much like turkey hunting. I found, to my surprise, that I didn't really like a pistol grip on my hunting gun. While I think it's a good thing when actually shooting, I found during the hunt and waiting that the angle of it all was uncomfortable for me. I wonder it I'm the only one.
Anyone else ever try it and not like the pistol grip?

Love a pistol grip

I have a thumbhole stock on my Stevens 301 and really like it. Never hunted with a pistol grip.

Re: Pistol grip or not?
I e shot some coyotes with AR15’s over the years. More so early on when it wasn’t cool to hunt coyotes with them. Some of my turkey guns have pistol grips. Some don’t. I do love pistol grips for turkey hunting as it doesn’t kill your wrist if your waiting for him to strut into range. But I have a habit of not getting on them until they are in range and I just move the gun slowly and bang them
Now I will say my coyote killing with a AR was mostly walking and pushing them with a group of guys and not sitting and calling. So it might be cumbersome if your sitting and holding it

Not a fan, do not like the feel, probably due to wing shooting a lot prior to turkey hunting. Do not like the ergonomics of the safety on most. A thumb safety would be better on a pistol grip for me.
Had a client kill a bird, and after we kept hunting and I used his pistol grip Benelli, killed a bird no problem but was completely uncomfortable with the grip.

No pistol grip for me, love the feel of a conventional stock.

Dang if I wasn't wonderin', if I had a finer' left, when we were shootin' 8, 3 1/2" T's, when snow goose hunting in Missouri

Not for me on a turkey gun. Personal defense is a yes.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in my preference for regular stock.

Put a pistol grip on my Mossberg 500 20 gauge. Took it off 5 minutes later, and sold it. Conventional stock for me.

Re: Pistol grip or not?
Love the pistol grip on my turkey gun but no thanks to the thumbhole stock. But I have guns with p grip and conventional. As long as I can reach the trigger .... I'm good.
Re: Pistol grip or not?
I enjoy pistol grip for turkeys as you are most likely ready and waiting. But other then that give me a regular stock and let me wing shoot lol
Re: Pistol grip or not?
Love my pistol grip on my Weatherby Sa-459 for the sole purpose of holding a steady gun while waiting for the right shot Turkey hunting.
Other then that wing and deer hunting no.

Pistol grip for me. Had a thumb hole on my 870…loved it… except had poi/sighting woes. Did get a new gun out of it… with the pistol grip….

Re: Pistol grip or not?
I love my adjustable pistol grips but only on my turkey guns. A youth or adult can shoot the same gun. Its even came in handy when I had to shoot from my off hand side.
Re: Pistol grip or not?
Love a pistol grip and/or thumbhole , as long as I can get the wood on the wood i.e. my head on the stock when using a site of some sort when Turkey hunting.

I prefer a regular stock. Pistol grip, thumbhole, and shurshot stocks don't feel natural to me.
