New Gun Safe

Post by Hobbes_mobile »

I bought a new gun safe on Friday and set it up on Saturday.

I didn't like the first location.

I added shelves to the right. Of course it wouldn't hold 36 Red Ryder's regardless of what it says.

30 Red Ryder's usually plenty anyway. I wish I had purchased a larger safe since much more than guns end up in them.

I always wonder what gun they base capacity of the safes off of. Pistols maybe?

Either way, awesome safe!

I watched a YouTube Video a while back where a fella bought a gun safe after a house fire. Can’t remember the name. It was rated for 1200 degrees. They cut the back out and found 3 ARS, several high end shotguns, a couple assorted rifles, and a good amount of ammo. Several rifle cartridges cooked off but none of the pistol ammo. Significant charring of stuff, including papers. Guy recommended not putting important papers, etc., in a gun safe no matter the rating.

It actually said "36 Long Guns" on the sticker. I knew that wasn't possible, but don't have 36 Long Guns anyway. They definitely couldn't be talking about scoped guns.

All of my guns are in soft cases inside safes, I put a hang tag on the muzzle end of the cases to identify what’s inside. If I don’t put them in soft cases I end up beating the hell out of them getting them in and out.

I put a GoldenRod heater/dehumidifier in mine. They last for years and worth the little bit that they cost. Peace of mind.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I've got to get a dehumidifier.

I always take the number of guns they say and cut it in half.
Maybe they use a Winchester 30-30 or single shot shotguns to get their numbers
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have no need for a 30-06, I have a shotgun
