Anyone deer hunting?

Post by Hoobilly »

I know a few members are already at it

So far I’ve not felt the urge. Haven’t even shot my bow

Anyone else feel the same way?

Or are you hunting every day?

I'll rifle hunt mule deer in November and bowhunt whitetails November thru December if necessary. I drew an extra archery only buck tag this year. It's been a while since I've been in a treestand.

Archery has been open here about two weeks. We have had temps with highs near 80 and lows in lower 60s. Can’t enjoy the hikes up and down mountains in…or the flies if you shoot one. We had a big swing in temps yesterday. Now we have forecast highs only in mid 60s and lows in upper 30s and low 40s for the forecast future. The deer moved well and earlier yesterday and the cooler temps have prompted my “want to” a lot more….

Went bow hunting yesterday. Saw zip tho. I only have one bow hunting spot fixed up and they just haven't been there this month. I put a camera up and it confirms my thoughts on that. Gun season opens in three weeks and I'll be out there for sure. We don't have a fall turkey season here so it's deer or ducks...and we don't have any ducks either. LOL

I’m hoping to get down to Kentucky and hunt out property

Haven’t killed a deer there yet.

I just started getting to thinking about it.. I'm having to much fun watching cell cams to actually go and sit.. It's like your there but don't have to sit still, play the wind, be quiet.. You can watch the game, make a snack..
Laughing last night, buddy had one of his target bucks a nice 9 standing by his stand half hour before shooting hours ended.. Text him an hour ago, yeah hes out.. Hopefully I can watch the debacle unfold

I like my cell cams. Watching a small hog right now flirting with disaster. I set the trap yesterday.

I have been hitting it pretty hard. Shot a doe opening morning. Left my hang on and climbing sticks and been using that same set quite a bit. Had a decent 8 point at it the last 2 nights, if he comes in again I probably won't give him another pass. Especially with waterfowl coming up.

I haven't noticed them being much different than Illinois but I think those along the border with Canada have to be pretty good size
