Seat Cover Warning

Post by GLS »

I'm still finding exploded airbags in my 4Runner. See photos in "Vehicle Detailing" thread.
Here's one I didn't notice until this a.m. Along the outer edges of both passenger's seat upright portion, bags exploded from shoulder to hip. In addition, bags cocooned us from under dash to protect legs, side curtain bags, and from steering wheel protecting me and the dash bag, Floyd. Luckily my seat covers were flimsy material and the bags ripped through it unimpeded. Make sure any seat cover you have on front seats doesn't impede the bag from your seat's upright portion if you have them located there. Gil

Seems like the companies making seat covers would design them to work in vehicles equipped with airbags
Don't start none, won't be none!

The quality companies will. But not all of them would go to the trouble to do it right. It's a good reminder to check when buying.
