What I've Been Up To

I've been somewhat absent for a month or so. I've mostly been working on house projects before hunting season:

We painted a wood ceiling white several weeks ago. Then painted the walls grey and the baseboards white.
What a pain in the butt.

After that I finally trimmed and painted the front windows then removed a bay window and replaced it.

My folks cancelled their trip to MT due to my dad's health. He's got pulmonary bullae and needs surgery but they are needing to wait. Hell likely have surgery at Vanderbilt in October.

We decided to go visit since they couldn't make it and his condition worries me. Covid would be really bad for him right now.

We took Kaleah with us so a lot of both of our families got to meet her for the first time.

Now that we are back in MT, elk season started on Saturday. I hunted Saturday morning and Sunday evening. I didn't hear any bulls but got close to a really good 6 pt bull on Sunday evening that was bedded. It was mostly by accident that I got so close. I got an arrow nocked but he slipped away before I could get a shot.

I had a game camera out for a few weeks before season that didn't produce like I'd hoped but did get one raghorn late evening on the 29th. He was really interested in the camera

Archery elk just started and I'm on vacation most of next week so should be updating that thread quite a bit. I've not killed a bull since 2015 so I'm pretty tired of elk tag soup.

Grizzly sow and cubs that Heather and I saw just down the road from where I drew an extra archery only buck tag. I probably won't hunt until November when hopefully these dang things are sleeping and the leaves are down so I can see.

He's on oxygen full time now. If he stays in the chair his oxygen is good. If he uses the portable and walks a hunded feet to the garage and back, his oxygen goes down to low 80s.

They probably were cool when it was installed but it let a ton of cold air in. It's replacement is one of the best improvements that I've made.

Pella window is a good choice as we have a back patio door and house entrance door from our garage. They all have shutters between the double glass. Had to replace 2 glass panes from defect on patio doors and company was great to work with!!

I've done some home remodeling and it's a bitch! Good for you to get it all done before hunting season. Hopefully things will get better with your Dad.

Shane, God bless you on the remodeling! Looks great. We did our entire house 3 years ago with new bathrooms, kitchen, and entire floor tile job. I did all the painting, walls, ceiling, baseboards (light gray walls, white baseboards as well)! Have done our house, inside and out, several times over the years and helped our kids on their places several times. More recently we had impact windows and doors replaced and added a porch. I'm tired of house projects now. We have recently began whitetail archery season. No critters just yet. Son hit a 150+ boar hog but only penetrated 4 inches and couldn't find it.

Good luck for you Dad! This is a really tough time for folks with any breathing issues and needing to be in hospital facilities. A very close older friend passed recently from COVID and compromised breathing issues. Best of luck with your hunting seasons out that way!
