Few More Nebraska Pics
Roughly 1/2 way between Chadron and Crawford.
Some oats planted and alfalfa fields and pasture and creek bottoms where the most trees grow until you get out of the low lands
Rancher says he averages about 13 inches of rain a year, off the normal.

ever wonder where the white goes when the snow melts??
Re: Few More Nebraska Pics
That’s the same rainbow I shot this pic of! I stood in hail for about 5 minutes on the front side of the storm and then about 20 minutes of rain. I watched my radar and thought the storm was going to split me. A bird gobbled when thunder started rolling in. I moved a half mile across a hilltop to get to him and then the storm completely blew up on me. No time to get out. Didn’t get the bird, but was good location opportunity.

I sent ya' a PM and sure it was a different rainbow as this one, to us, was a double rainbow

Re: Few More Nebraska Pics
Mine was a double rainbow too, the top one just wasn’t as clear in the picture as yours. I was very close to you, almost right between Chadron and Crawford, but south.soiltester wrote: ↑May 17th, 2021, 7:35 am I sent ya' a PM and sure it was a different rainbow as this one, to us, was a double rainbow

Re: Few More Nebraska Pics
We were looking east as a storm was just starting to pass from the N/W and the rainbow was touching in the next fields less than 1/4 mile on the north and it appeared about 3/4 mile to the south.
Buddy had to take a panoramic pic to get it all in.
Private ground and no hills or pine trees around until you went a few miles straight south, I believe.
If I knew exactly where I was, it would be nice to check our locations at that time!!
Did you eat at "Helen's Restaurant" on the west side of Chadron and if so what day and time??

I did eat at Helen’s Monday evening. There would have been two Arkansas plates there that night. We ran into another group of Arkansas guys then, but didn’t talk to anyone else at Helen’s that night. The rainbow I saw was Thursday afternoon about 6:20-6:30 p.m. looking to east after storm passed through.

I hunted near Chadron in 2009. The small town where we stayed was Hay Springs.
The storm that went through was pretty bad. Luckily it was in the evening.

Rainbow would've been around and close to the same time closing in on dark, regardless.jhogue wrote: ↑May 17th, 2021, 2:32 pm I did eat at Helen’s Monday evening. Ate at Helen's on the way in, around 2pm Mon afternoon and had to get settled and ready to hunt right after that, but a couple of camo guys came in, just wonderin'
Close but no cigar, as they say and it's too bad we hadn't known ahead of time.
We could have had a couple cold ones where we were at "The Lodge"

Re: Few More Nebraska Pics
I learn more and more about home much I missed for years before I started turkey hunting. I’m sure the Pine Ridge area looked completely different before to 2012 burn. Also, there were way more turkeys in some of the areas I hunt now that I could have hunted long ago. Guess it doesn’t matter too much when you get bit, you just have to learn it when you do. I definitely missed a lot of great opportunities hunting when I was in teens through late 20’s.
George, those pics are awesome!
