High In The Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains

Post by soiltester »

in Chihuahua, Mexico, 3 1/2 hours south of Nuevo Casas Grandes, is a turkey camp kitchen door with a "Gobbler Nation Decal" on one of the top window panes

If you are fortunate to see this decal, you're about to, or have had, a great hunt for Gould's turkeys ;)

Oh, and have call will travel ;)

NICE!
Thank you Lord for creating these wonderful birds and allowing us to chase after them.

Very nice. Congratulations on a nice hunt. Beautiful country too. What do the Goulds usually weigh? Just wondered how big they are compared to the other subspecies.

They're pretty close in weight with the other species and vary in weight with habitat also
I had one over 21.5# and Larry had 1 close to 22# and saw bigger toms around the ranches ;)

Their longer legs and big feet, make them appear so much bigger

Alright, always figured they would be lighter in weight, being that they're in a semi desert area.

High in the mountains and acorns are the main food in the winter and toms were still full of fat as strutting & breeding was just starting
