Lightweight hunting boots
Lightweight hunting boots
Hi All-
Pretty new member looking for suggestions.
Looking for a pair of early season (fall) hunting boots that are light and nimble for Oct/Nov deer season. Waterproof is a plus. I'm in northern Illinois so temps are 40's-60's or so. Probably don't need serious insulation, if at all.
What are you guys using?
Thanks in advance!
Tom

Re: Lightweight hunting boots
FWIW, right now I'm running Irish Setter Vapr Trek 8" boots but they are a little warm & heavy for early season here.
Thanks,
Tom
Thanks,

Re: Lightweight hunting boots
Might as well wear hikers that you would use in spring turkey hunting
Bought myself the Salamon GTX 4’a and have worn them everyday for the last 5-6 months and love them

Re: Lightweight hunting boots
I've been wearing Crispi boots they are not cheap but the last two weeks in the elk mountains have put over a hundred miles on the feet and no issues.

Re: Lightweight hunting boots
For deer hunting, I prefer to wear scent containing boots. For early bow season in NC, I wear cheap Lacrosse rubber boots. As temps cool, I switch to a pair of Muck Wetland boots. They are relatively lightweight and comfortable to walk in (although I wouldn't wear them upland bird hunting) and keep my feet warm from 30-60 degrees.
If I wasn't concern with scent and was planning to walk a lot (e.g. ruffed grouse hunting), I have a pair of uninsulated Zamberlan boots that are the best I have ever owned. I also have and like a pair of uninsulated Lowas. For the money, it is hard to beat Danner Pronghorns, but I find the sole lacking in traction for walking in the mountains of western NC. They would be fine in Ill.
All of the above are waterproof.

That’s what I recommend as well..Got a pair before season this year..I couldn’t believe I found a shoe/boot that wasn’t rubber but was actually 100 percent water proof..Amazed to say the leasthoobilly wrote:Might as well wear hikers that you would use in spring turkey hunting

I wore them from March in Alabama to the last of May in New York, they are very comfortable.

I wear them for deer, turkey , squirrel. Whatever arises, light weight but tough, water proof. The mock toe is great for protection from the stirrups on my summit climber, it keeps the stirrups off the boot itself and saves them from getting torn up. Anyhow, they might be worth a look.

It’s a joke. Broke back Mountain was a movie that involved gay cowboys..
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

They put their saddled on backwards so they could “sit” on the saddle horn!

At the risk of offending someone, I need to ask. Why are y'all watching movies about gay cowboys?

Is it wrong for two cowboys to love each other?
