Cheap Donkey Question?

Post by guesswho »

I’m bored and just curious. When you check your patterns at say 20, 30 and 40 do you shoot 3 shells? The reason I ask is because being a cheap donkey I shoot one shell with 3 targets spaced out. Just took a couple extra minutes to get everything set up right. I mainly wanted to check the pattern densities at those ranges once I was on target. I Wasn’t concerned with the poi except with the first target, I knew the others would be off a little for obvious reasons. My question is would the first and second paper targets have any effect on the patterns I see on the last target. I don’t think it would affect the pattern, but really don’t know. Shooting through old thin paper wall calendars.

Based on the title, I thought you were asking how little you should be charging for whatever you are trying to sell.

I cant see thin paper messing up the pattern.

I've already been put on house arrest here a couple of times for some unknown reason. So I didn't want to start a thread with Ass in the title, so I went with Donkey. Plus I was bored.

I have thought the same thing but wanted to do it in 10 yard increments from 40-100 and use huge sheets of paper and see what happens. Talk about a money saver!

I had my empty gun in a vice on the 40 yard target. Then added the 30, had to move it a couple times to get it in the right sight picture, then did the same with the 20. Then loaded the gun and shot.

I'm apparently not very smart because that seems kind of obvious now that you explained.

You give me to much credit. This was in early February.

Done it with 3 ranges at a time using a lead sled, a laser bore sight and some large 4x6 paper. Works pretty good, patterns look organic from sheet to sheet. Gives you better data then shooting three different times.
