Michigan?

Post by Trustyrusty »

Anyone here in Michigan? Highly considering taking a trip to hit some public land. Just hoping for suggestions on a unit before I make a random selection.

No public land hunting in lower MI, check the 2020 Turkey digest ;)
$151 base license and $15 turkey tag and you print your base license off and they send you your tag. Also, "IF" you can find a sales licensing shop open, they can sell you your turkey tag and print it for you!!
Good luck!!

Check your close area out and plan ahead where you'll be

I always choose the "skeeter season" and that covers a lot of places I have hunted with buddies in the zone 3!!
Still want to make it to Garden, but hard to make that trip to my buddy's place there when I have so many other places available :stir:

Im in SE Michigan. I can answer your question as best I ca. Key words here are ,Plan Ahead. It can be a bit tough to decipher our rules.Mich. is divided into 3 zones . Then come turkey season you have numerous sub zones for turkey season. The easiest tag to obtain is 0234. It cover the entire state. However it doesn't cover public land in zone 3 . ( southern half of the state ) Private land can be tough to get permission for. Your best bet would be zone 2 which is the northern half of the lower peninsula .Lots of public land up there.

It clearly states in the digest that hunt 0234 is statewide with the exception of public land in the southern zone.

But there are other tags available, I just thought you were saying public land was close to hunting?

I didn't mention that also because "if" there are left over licenses for public lands in zone 3, they may be available or may not, be close to where you ant to hunt unless you want to travel to that area. ;)
