A general discussion area for turkey hunters.

Was recently notified that my two day quota hunt on a Federally owned/state managed WMA has been canceled due to the Covid-19. My priority points plus an additional point for this year have been reinstated. I'm leaving tonight to act as the non-hunting/guide/caller for a friend on another WMA Quota Hunt. We scouted the area last week and located @ 22 gobbling turkeys and it looks like we're going to have great weather conditions. My hunting companion is a state winning turkey caller who started hunting w/ me when he was @ 9 years old and while hunting together last year we killed 6 long beards. We're hoping to start this season off w/ a "bang" tomorrow morning. Best wishes for everyone this year, BE SAFE!!!
TN, but it wasn't the state but the Federal authorities. The TWRA pushed for the hunts to be held. I had a total knee replacement in January and have rehabbed w/ the goal of hunting this week and actually did over 2 1/2 miles in the woods on Sunday scouting. I turned 69 yesterday, and am more pumped about hunting this year than I was 39 years ago when I first contracted "gobbler disease" which seems to get worse every year.

That really sucks your hunt got cancelled. Great job on your rehab success. My step-son was supposed to go on a 3 day guided veteran turkey hunt at Fort Pickett in Virginia. He found out last week it was cancelled.
