Can't Believe!

I know I'm entering the twilight of my turkey hunting career, still have a few years left hopefully, but far more behind me than in front. That I can believe. What I can't believe is I'm turning in my man card and am going to a 410 this year. After giving people a hard time about using a twinky gauge, I finally went to a 20 a few years ago . I was and still am way behind the times. I can't bring myself to say I'm using a 410. I need it to sound a little more gansta, so I'm hunting with a foe-one-oh. Anyway I was recently gifted this Stevens 301T. I put a Vortex Venon on it today. Added a zippered pouch cheek riser which all my turkey guns have, a sling and an Indian Creek 390. I have several different TSS loads to try. Hoping to get to shoot it this weekend. Shaking my head in disbelief as I type this. I've went from a 20 gauge as a kid, all they way up to a 3 1/2" 10 gauge in my man card days. Then several years ago I started backtracking from there. Went to a 3 1/2" 12, then a 3", then 2 3/4, then to the 20, and now finally a foe-one-oh. It feels like a fishing rod, feels like I need to put a reel on top of it instead of a Vortex Are y'all sure this thing will kill a turkey at 40.5 yards?

I don’t have one of those sissy guns. But . . . My son’s granddad gave me one for him to use when gets big enough. I had to make sure it was safe and functional so I’ve been hunting with it some the last couple years. I’ll be glad when he gets big enough so I can go back to lugging my heavy gun on every hunt.

Seems like to me you skipped a few gauges in your strange journey. Could have let yourself down a wee bit easier and had more guns to retire I am thinking. I have been talking to an old turkey hunter that lives near me. He lives over towards your kinfolk Ronnie. He killed a 23lb bird with 1 3/8 spurs last year. Still shooting his 12 ga. too. He is 92. There are STILL a few real men left out there......

I know what you mean about the getting old part! I had to start buying the 40# bags of salt for my water softener. The 80# were getting too heavy for the wife to haul down to the basement!!

Here I thought you're cutting the finger tips off your gloves so you could run your yelper or grip the striker, but you just wanted to be fashionable and show off your painted nails. I'm certain a salon somewhere near by would paint your nails to match that original Bottomland.

I hear you, I had to install one of those electric chairs for her that goes down the steps, but the bag of salt and her was too much for the chair.

So now she sends the salt down by itself and to save on the electric bill I got her a cane so she can hurry down the steps to catch up with the salt.

Well Happy endings aren't what they used to be, since she started using a cane her hand cramps up too quick.
