28 gauge mossberg
Has anybody that owns one shot and lead shells thru it. 2 3/4”. I bought some at rk this evening and took my new gun to farm and to see if POI/POA IS good and it was.
The first 2 ejected but the next 4 didn’t eject empty hull.

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
My new mossberg sa-28 turkey is having issues with turkey loads. Failed to cycle next shell into the chamber during season. Not had time to dig into yet but have heard folks say lightly buffing/polishing of internals will help. I will report back after I have time to work with mine some.
Thanks-Dusty

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
I haven’t had any issues with my sa28 I don’t have the turkey model I have a regular field model.
Re: 28 gauge mossberg
I’m gonna email mossberg see what they say.
Shouldn’t have to buff nothing. They can if that’s what it takes. 2 3/4 gun should shoot 2 3/4 shells. I haven’t tried TSS yet but I will.

I can't, for the life of me, figure out why a brand new gun won't shoot off the shelf trap loads. AA's at that!

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
I've had my hands on 2 of the new Mossberg International SA-28 Turkey models. On both of the guns the triggers were an abomination, and as I've said in a previous post, should have never left the factory in that condition. When I did a trigger job, I also did a complete internal polish, and the guns function w/ TSS, 3" shells w/ no problems, no failure to feed or eject. You should expect a gun to be fully functional, and with a good trigger from the factory, especially w/ a turkey model, but sadly, that is no longer the case. The reluctance of dealers to assemble firearms and allow a pre-purchase evaluation tends to exacerbate the potential problems to the purchaser. I see more problems w/ some of the Turkish imported guns, but then, some of the American manufacturers, Remington, have had severe quality control problems of their own.

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
That's why I don't screw around with new guns. I have old guns that shoot great. Would drive me batshit crazy to buy a new gun that won't shoot everything it is designed to shoot right out of the box and with a decent trigger to boot. Cheap guns equal cheap results. I have no patience for that.
Edited to say that came out wrong. Not throwing off on Mossberg or any other guns. Just saying it would be very frustrating to me to buy a new gun that had problems right out of the box.

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
Well said, Spuriocity. It seems that these new guns are a crapshoot, at best! There is absolutely no reason that they won't cycle a factory round out of the box!
The triggers. Well that's another issue!
And they're all selling like hotcakes.

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
I have no complaints on the trigger.
I am gonna take it apart and clean it though. Waiting on mossberg to reply
I put dial calipers on factory choke this morning and it’s .521. Figured be more open.

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
Mossberg emailed me back and said this.
Hi Jerrod,
We would suggest a quick cleaning and oiling and then try the gun again. 28GA are a little finicky with ammo. You could also try a different brand or type of ammo.
Let us know if the gun continues to have issues.
Sincerely,
Customer Service Team
O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc.
So I’m gonna clean it this evening.

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
Well. That's semi-encouraging. It didn't take long for them to get back to you.
I hope it that's all it takes, Raspy.
I'm pulling for ya, Brother!

I still think you’re not pulling the trigger hard enough.

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
Unless you pull the trigger hard, it won't "kill them hard"! Most of the problems which I've encountered would not be solved by a "good cleaning and oiling".
Re: 28 gauge mossberg
If it don’t then mossberg can take care of it. And I’m certain they will. I’ve had good customer service before. Shall see guys. Got 11 months. Lol

I shot the federal top gun this evening. Shot 9 rounds back to back and all fired and ejected. So I’m happy.
Ordered tss from foxtrot and went to Walmart bout 3 boxes of the federal. And I’ll go back and buy more. I’m happy now. Lol. I’ll chauk it up to the Winchester loads in this gun. Won’t buy no more.

Re: 28 gauge mossberg
Do any of you guys know if it is possible to get a regular butt stock through Mossberg to replace the pistol grip and the 28? Or are they still not selling individual parts for these guns?
