Sumtoy vs EGW & Burris vs Vortex ?

Post by spider316 »

OK everyone, let's do it. I need help putting together a combination of any of the above for my daughter's latest project, Stevens 301 .410. Also if possible, what's a good comb riser that I may also use. She would like me to put the 1.75X4 Bushnell trophy on it but it seems like it wouldn't work. Everyone thanks for your help, Wayne.

I'm a Burris fan. I have 3 of the FF2's (1 for 11 yrs, 1 for 5-6 yrs, and 1 for a few months). I love the simplicity of the on/off toggle switch and no brightness settings to toggle through.

Can't help as far as the base is concerned. Mine are mounted on Burris 336 mounts.

I have about 6 of the Sumtoy bases and 3 of the Scalarworks. Have not tried the EGW but hear its really similar to the Sumtoy. I like the Sumtoy as it contours to the top of the receiver and mounts pretty solid.

I’m running a FF3 on a sumtoy mount, and I love it. But I have no experience with EGW.

I have the EGW mount and Vortex Venom. No complaints. But I am fixing to change the Vortex out for another Holosun HE507 green dot. And I will have to change the base as well but I’ll go back with another from EGW.

The Beartooth comb riser kit is adjustable with varying height foam shims slid inside the neoprene stock sleeve. All of the choices are good for mount. I use the Sumtoy and FF3 combination. Gil

I have the burris ff4 on a sumtoy. No complaints from ether. I used blue loctite on all the screws, (24 hour cure time) So it's rock soild. The ff4 had all the features I like. The Brightness settings are perfect. It will get bright or dim enough for any condition. It even has a auto dimming feature that adjusts itself depending on what your aiming at. The cover works great to keep debris and moisture off/ out of the projector.

I have the FF2 and the FF3. IMO the FF2 is better.

I've never owned a FF3, but my experience with the FF2 has affirmed "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
