EGW vs Sumtoy Stevens 301 base

Post by Jordan121787 »

I picked up a Stevens 301 turkey in .410. With the stock rail and a Bushnell RXS-100 mounted it sits uncomfortably high. I’ve looked at Sumtoys base which seems to be the lowest, but I’ve seen a lot of people recommend EGW base. From the pictures I’ve seen online with the EGW base, it looks to sit about the same height as stock. Is that true? Anyone had both and recommend one over the other?

I have both on different guns but the EGW mounts are the same for several guns you pick the radius to match ur receiver. They both are about same height to me, you cannot go wrong with either and EGW has a discount code on here some place. Sumtoy does offer a protector version that is pretty sweet.

I just swapped out the stock rail with the EGW yesterday. Really not much difference in height but the rail is taller. With the rail you have to use a picatinny mount which adds height. See pic.Image

Get ya one of these. Two small holes to drill in stock and that’s it. I am sure you could probably use Velcro as well. I wouldn’t have drilled an expensive stock, but since this is a cheap on and a dedicated turkey gun…
Titan Universal Cheek Rest- comes in 3 colors. I covered mine to match gun…,

EGW is definitely shorter than a pic rail

It is thicker than the Sumtoy.

I’ve had 2 Sumtoy bases and they was too thin and loosened up on me. EGW uses torx screws and once tightened they won’t loosen
