Got an email Apex is offering a 3" 20ga load in #10's. Any thoughts?

I’ll never load #10 shot in a 20ga or up. It’s only for those who want to count hundreds of small holes in a pattern

I was asked a few times to load 10’s in a 12ga 3.5

10’s alone has more flyers at 40-50 yards than anything else

10's have killing ability to 50yds. I'm not sure why you would want that in a 20ga pay load.

No reason to shoot those vs 9s in a 20 ga.

I’ve duplexed 9s and 9.5s in my 20 ga. But now I’ve went to straight 8s or 9s.

I’m curious on all these claims 10 are only good for 50 but I haven’t seen a video of a penetration test on say a piece of bone…

I have a single shot 20 with a fixed xtra full choke that pattern 8's better than 9's, and 8's give better penetration by the time I reload if a follow up shot was needed

Like Col. Tom said in one of his books when commenting on lead 7.5's, they are fine for head shots but your going to feel silly while shooting one in the azz when he's getting away at 50yds

I could see the same for 10's in a .410 or 28ga., fine for head shots when every thing goes good, not so good for a distance follow upshot if things went bad.
I don't see any benefit of 10's in a 20 ga. and up

If I shot them they'd be in a .410.

Thought I posted a link before for anyone interested. I am really happy with 9's in my 20. They pattern and kill clean as far as I care to shoot.

I have a lil buddy that wasn't getting the NUMBERS he wanted in his 20 ga .... He and I know that 180 #9's would do the job way farther than he cares to shoot but he wanted to have a big # gun so he loaded #10's and it jumped up to 430ish . He has want he wants now and definitely has access to some good chokes , that gun just didn't like #9 or #8 . Now he knows he can't kill one out past 50 yds so it never crosses his mind to even attempt that . Sometimes it's just want you want not what you have got to have as his #9 load was good for as far as his #10 load is .....

I've loaded tens in a 1 1/4 oz load in the 20 for the higher count for the grandson but he has yet to be able to pull the trigger on a bird.

Personally I think the tens arent a good match for the 20 in a heavier payload. 8's to 9 1/2's with the 9 1/2's in a duplex load is about the only way I'd use the 9 1/2's in the 20 for a turkey load.

Wasn't it on here one time where someone tried 12's? Magic Pixie Dust if memory serves. I'll stick with 9's. They work well for me.

180 of 9’s is pretty bad. That’s like 7.5’s territory

I love 9’s and get 220-250 depending on gun and choke.

Don't see me shooting #10 in anything

I would like to try #10’s

8's will kill em 60 plus yards !

I don’t even shoot 10’s in my 410, I shoot a 9X9.5 duplex load that shoots amazing. For some reason my 410 hated 10’s and straight 9.5’s but it loves that duplex load.

I think I like them better than I do 9s

1.5 oz. of Foxtrot straight 8s here on out. Pattern nicely through the IC 555.

10s at 50yrd and 8s at 60yrd just wow, 8s be good for flighting geese or 7s better in the 410 or 20g?

I know what federal heavyweight #7s can do at a good distance in a 20 guage with a 1 1/2 oz payload at 15G weight. Couldn't even fathom 8s' or 9s' in TSS. Save your money and time, don't do it !
