**28 gauge advice needed**

Post by dustyroads »

Looking to build or buy a 28 gauge turkey specific gun. Been looking high and low to find a gun that will be a compact and lightweight turkey slayer. Would like a pump or semi-auto, would also consider a single shot-want it threaded for choke tubes. Not interested in sxs or over-unders at this point. So far all I can find are 26 inch or longer barreled guns, which are a bit too long for my tastes. Did think I hit paydirt with a mossberg sa-28 compact last winter but after 2 trips back for service work and no satisfaction-I parted ways with it reluctantly. So the search continues.... any advice greatly appreciated.

Stevens 555 Compact is certainly worth a look. I have the standard version with 26" barrel and it's a shooter! Nice lightweight gun and deadly as far as you are likely to shoot.

I tried the sa-28 and had bad luck. It wouldn't cycle at all. Tried 3 boxes of ammo and sent it back 2 times. Still no luck, maybe cycled 4 shells out of 60. Maybe just a bad gun. Indian creek 525 or 555??

525 sorry. Speed typing sucks 😆

Get there early, stay late, sit still and don't use weather as an excuse to stay home.

Hard to spend $800 on a pump shotgun that I will want to camo dip and add optics to. Hoping to find the Express model threaded for tubes.

Never made them in that configuration from what I’ve seen. However, Bocephus sent his barrel to cnc and had it threaded for invector. With the Indiancreek 380 it’s kicking 200 with the Foxtrotammo

Will CNBC thread for 28s as well as 410s? I'm interested in 28 gauge. If they thread invector for 28 that would be awesome, as finding chokes would be easier.
