.410 pattern. Would you hunt it

Post by Skimerhorn »

Shot my savage today. 25yd patter was awesome but 35 was nowhere near as good. At 35yds I had 118 in a 10 inch circle. The pattern was even. Would you guys hunt that or should I try a different choke? This pattern was out of the factory choke

If it is consistently over 100 in the 10inch it will be good to hunt. Ideally more is better obviously but without an indian creek tube most of the higher pellet counts (170-200) aren't attainable. Most of the guns I've dealt with are 120-150ish with the occasional higher numbers. That is with handloads. In my experience apex is the best factory stuff out there if you aren't hand loading.

I would hunt

I have seen factory chokes do 140-160 with my foxtrot 383 Strokers. And with a outstanding factory choke 170-180’s. With a Indiancreek they are consistently hitting 180-200. That’s with 9.5’s. 9’s are doing good for 150

its been a pain in the rump trying to get this done. My bank uses a antigun online sales company after working with them for 3 weeks to finally get shot down. Wish they had told me no ammunition off the bat. I am working with a new one now and waiting on approval to connect them to my bank and get the new website online.

What’s y’alls thoughts on using 10s knowing that with a .410 your hunting/shooting a turkey at <40 yds?

That’s what I’m planning for this year. At .410 ranges, 10s are probably the best option. Adequate energy and better pattern density.

I shot TSS 10s last year and will be shooting them this season as well. 6 birds last years with the farthest being 43 yards all with 10s. They are killers.
