20 ga help
20 ga help
Looking at switching over to a dedicated 20 ga. Have kinda narrowed it down to the Franchi affinity 3 or SX4 Universal hunter. Both are drilled and tapped, so that will help adding optics, and was thinking 26" barrel on them. Wondering what the recoil difference will be since my 8yr old grandson will be using it next season as well for his first hunt. I know the M2 would be the ultimate, but when I handled the franchi it felt the same.

I have heard nothing but good stuff from the Affinity.mdbatriangle wrote: ↑October 17th, 2019, 8:05 pm Franchi affinity 3 20 ga, love mine. with franchi recoil pad, not much kick .
the sx4 in 12ga I heard no so stellar revues. not sure about the 20ga version
Re: 20 ga help
I can vouch for the Affinity. Make sure you inform yourself of what loads will and will not cycle.
Re: 20 ga help
Trimming the hulls, or just shoot a 2 3/4” recipe.

fold crimping they will cycle just fine.
Re: 20 ga help
Will the 26" barrel be to much, could always get a compact and have it dipped if a 24" is better

Re: 20 ga help
Personally I prefer a 24" barrel over a 26. By the time you add a extended choke to a 26" barrel you are looking at 28+ inches with really nothing to gain as far as performance. JMHO

Re: 20 ga help
I prefer a 21-24" and nothing longer for turkey hunting
21" is about the perfect length in my opinion
Re: 20 ga help
Definitely the Affinity 20 gauge with an Indian Creek .562 choke. Mine cycles the 3” Apex roll crimped TSS #9’s all day long. 330 pellets in the 10” circle at 40 yards. And I’ve killed turkeys stone dead @ 70 yards with that combo.

Re: 20 ga help
I would go with franchi affinity before sx4 for a dedicated Turkey gun.
