I wanted to get this thread going for 2021, sorry about opening an old one. Delete if need be. But, I've got my Dad's Winchester 37 16 single. It's a full choke, and been meaning to give it a try on turkeys. I don't handload shotshells and the heaviest loads I can find are 1 1/8 oz.

Your good. Nothing better than reading old threads and adding to them. I will be loading more 16ga tss loads this coming week

Cheddite has a 1 3/8 oz load in their manual, but tss would be a lot better!

I know you said you don't reload, but

I use a 1-1/4oz load from the alliant manual for lead shot

No, I've reloaded everything else I shoot for a long time but, never got into shotgun ammo yet. Have you killed turkeys with your 16 gauge and loads?

I see in this thread that several members are using older 16’s with TSS . I was of the impression that we didn’t/ shouldn’t use such a load in these older guns . Is my understanding Not correct? I have several old 16’s (Winchester 97, savage SxS, Ithaca 37) I would love to use with some of the TSS loads for gobblers.

I have several customers who shoot older Winchester model 12’s in 20ga and the model 42 410’s and shoot the stuffings out of them on turkeys.

One has had chokes installed for a 410 and the model 12. While another just shoots factory barrel. Those guns are good quality steel

I hope to add to this forum later this Spring. My father left me his 16 gauge . It's never as far as I know, killed a turkey. Killed a lot of squirrels and rabbits though.
